10 Essential Tracks From R&L 2014

Welcome back! This week we’re jumping back another year to count down 10 Essential Tracks from R&L 2014 which happened to be the last time a certain Indie band graced the R&L stage.

As always, all the tracks will be compiled into the growing Spotify playlist to give you the essential R&L playlist!

10. Arctic Monkeys – Do I Wanna Know?

Arguably the most popular headliner there’s ever been at R&L in the last decade, Arctic Monkeys’ last played to their army of fans at R&L in 2014, just under a year after they released this absolute tune!

9. Paramore – Still Into You

American rockers Paramore also last graced the R&L stage in 2014. Hayley Williams and co had to power through some technical issue during their Reading set but still delivered an unforgettable performance!

8. Queens of the Stone Age – No One Knows

It’s safe to call Queens of the Stone Age R&L veterans as they’ve performed EIGHT times since their debut in 2000. This song is definitely their most iconic banger!

7. Blink-182 – I Miss You

This is the second appearance in this series for pop punk legends Blink-182 but, as this was their last UK performance with founding member Tom Delonge, we had to include this one. The title represents how many fans feel about his departure from the band.

6. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis – Can’t Hold Us

Switching styles a bit now, Hip-Hop duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis made their R&L debut in 2014 with a set-list stacked full of absolute tunes. Even though it was hard to pick just one, we’ve gone for this banger!

5. Jake Bugg – Broken

Folk star Jake Bugg is another artist who last played in 2014. It’s crazy to think that he was only 20 years old in 2014 when he made his main stage debut, even crazier that this was already his third appearance at R&L!

4. Vampire Weekend – A-Punk

This really was a good year for indie-rock at R&L with so many amazing artists from the genre playing including New York’s finest Vampire Weekend! You’re definitely lying if you say you don’t grove to this classic!

3. Imagine Dragons – Radioactive

Back in 2014 Imagine Dragons weren’t quite the chart-topping force that they are now. But while only having one album under their belts they still stole the show with a breath-taking performance filled with big tunes!

2. Foster The People – Pumped Up Kicks

While Foster the People haven’t quite matched Imagine Dragons musical rise since their 2014 main stage appearance, they still have one of the most popular and recognisable tracks from the 2010s!

1. Jimmy Eat World – The Middle

Pop Punk/Emo legends Jimmy Eat World out did themselves by blessing us with two separate performances on the same day at R&L 2014! They have a catalogue stacked with bangers but we had to go with this classic!

Keep up to date with 10 essential tracks by following the Spotify playlist! We’ll be adding 10 new songs every week!
