Dangerous Drugs

Below is a list of drugs that we know have caused deaths, overdoses, injury and hospitalisations — we believe you should be aware of these.

These drugs have caused serious health issues for users so far this year due to their very high strength, contaminants, the fact they are fake or their reaction with other substances.

Please be aware that these orange spooky ghosts are not MDMA and are 2CB. It is a synthetic cathinone known as Bath Salts or Monkey Dust and will cause a completely different reaction including aggressive behaviour.

This is not a complete list. This is simply a list of drugs that have been brought to our attention as particularly dangerous.

We don’t condone the use of drugs but if you choose to take them, we want you to remain as safe as possible.

If you need help or support at any time please visit the medical tent or welfare tent, both open 24 hours a day. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.

Billy Talent rock the Main Stage

Billy Talent rock the Main Stage

In the 25 years since their inception, they have never lost that energy and enthusiasm so pivotal to their live shows and sound. Today’s performance was another raucous riot!

Benjamin Kowalewicz’s vocals were, as ever, so distinctive. They really spearhead their unmistakable sound — one fans have come to adore on a global scale.

Ian D’Sa once again demonstrated his impressive shredding abilities across a number of tightly-executed solos on lead guitar, as well as essential backing vocals along with bassist Jonathan Gallant.

Donning their familiar black and red colour scheme, the band opened with the catchy classic ‘Devil In A Midnight Mass’ and went from strength to strength. Highlights included wonderful crowd participation during ‘Devil On My Shoulder’, with the crowd screaming back ‘over and over’ with gusto as they jumped up and down like yo-yos. Crowd pleaser ‘Red Flag’ was another hit on their setlist — and an actual red flag was suitably waving in the breeze!

Overall, another stellar performance that further cements Billy Talent’s name in the history books.

Red lasers roamed the room as he opened with bangers from artists like Drake and 50 Cent. The whole crowd danced, screamed and threw giant inflatable beach balls around.

When Charlie asked, “Are you ready Leeds?” it was a unanimous ‘yes’ from the buzzing crowd. He stopped the music halfway through ‘Party Up’ by DMX, and the whole crowd was in chorus for the iconic ‘up in here, up in here’ line. Stormzy’s ‘Shut Up’ was another huge hit as everyone screamed at the top of their lungs.

Massive tunes like ‘Did You See’ by J Hus and ‘Bodak Yellow’ by Cardi B were mixed into each other as Charlie asked the crowd to chant his name and the tent erupted. The crowd became a whirlwind of laser beams reflecting on metallic windbreakers and a sea of waving arms.

He ended his set by encouraging everyone to put their arms around the person next to them and dance to ‘One Love’ by Bob Marley, a magical moment of love and happiness in a very sweaty dance tent.

There’s one thing Charlie Sloth definitely knows how to do, and that’s putting a set together that will keep the crowd jumping all day.

The mixture of synths and keyboards had the crowd swaying along to the ballads. The more upbeat songs like ‘It’s Not Just Me’ invited jumping, singing and dancing in various forms. Coats were pulled off and glittery faces sparkled as everyone moved to the infectious rhythm.

Like the professionals they are, the group powered through a minor technical malfunction when Jenny Hollingworth’s keyboard stand collapsed. The twosome kept going with smiling faces and unfaltering vocals, and the crowd cheered and clapped when she managed to sort the problem.

Their deep, throaty voices were just as impressive as their instrumental skills, and for such young women they’ve already achieved incredible things.

Things really stepped up a notch when Jenny pulled out a saxophone and Rosa Walton a baby-pink electric guitar for their huge track ‘Donnie Darko’, showing there really is nothing they can’t do. With their unmistakable talent and a fresh take on their obvious 80s influence, Let’s Eat Grandma were not to be missed.

Dinosaur Pile-Up kick things off at the Main Stage

And that’s exactly what we were treated to at the Main Stage today. Post-grunge powerhouse, Dinosaur Pile-Up, threw everyone in at the drop-tuned deep end with one of their notoriously heavy live shows.

Festival spirit in full swing, the band were greeted with a hometown reception from the early-risers, gathered to rock.

Dinosaur Pile-Up proceeded to pay back the crowd’s enthusiasm with interest and got them participating, clapping along to the chunky riffs soaring out of lead singer Matt Bigland’s Gibson Explorer. With their sound reminiscent of 90s heroes Nirvana and Weezer, the band paid homage to the latter with a brief ‘Say It Ain’t So’ interlude — a tiny treat for those who recognised it.

The local lads also included a rendition of new track ‘Round the Bend’ in their set, mixed in with classics such as ‘My Rock ‘n’ Roll’. The real highlight was final song ‘11:11’, which was the catalyst for the first mosh-pit of the weekend, getting everyone in the mood for what’s to come!

Ultimately, their performance was a strong reminder that Leeds itself has an epic music scene, with bands more than fit for the Main Stage.

Lady Bird storm The Pit with tunes heavy enough to liven up any lunchtime

The band opened with a bang, a smoke machine, orange lights and their signature heavy style. The ground was thumping with bass as the trio played their tunes, with lead singer Don Rennols staring straight at the audience as he told his tales of everyday life.

The crowd already seemed to know every word as they mouthed, jumped and enjoyed the electric atmosphere coming out of the tent. Lady Bird’s track ‘Social Potions’ had everyone in the tent moving, regardless of if they knew the song or not.

The frantic, heavy riffs mixed with Don’s unique voice attracted more and more people to The Pit throughout the set, and towards the end it actually got pretty hard to see the stage for all the people.

‘Shagtallytastic’ started with a strong f-bomb that was instantly greeted with cheers and head nods, and the band simply went from strength to strength.

When the music stopped and Don laid down his lyrics without a backing track, the crowd was majorly impressed. He really showed his talent and why Kent’s own Lady Bird are heading for such big things.
