Their soaring sound delivered through an ethereal haze of smoke was, as ever, a throwback to 90s Mancunian maestros Oasis and The Stone Roses.
Lead singer Tommy O’Dell has one of the best set of pipes in the business, able to harness all manner of emotions in his vocals. This vocal prowess was demonstrated with a glorious rendition of stripped-back hit ‘Delete’ as well as ‘Lay Down’ and timeless ballad ‘In The Air’. Nobody has made Burberry baseball caps look so cool!
A wailing of lyrics from the crowd was ever-present, resonating in the acoustics of a chock-a-block tent. One couldn’t help but acknowledge these were serious summer soundtracks loved by all. Even for more up-beat tracks such as ‘Feels Like 37’, DMA’s were equally as impressive and the crowd responsive. They were really ‘let[ting] it all out’.
DMA’s continue to be one of the hottest bands coming out of an incredible time in Australian music.
