The Green Tent Company
Here at Leeds Festival we are very excited to announce the arrival of THE GREEN TENT COMPANY.
Each year we are faced with the mammoth task of cleaning up the fields which are usually strewn with huge amounts of used camping equipment including TENTS, SLEEPING BAGS and CAMPING MATS.
Until now we have only been able to work with charities in the main to collect good equipment and a vast majority of the remainder end up going straight to LANDFILL because a traditional tent is made up of many different components such as FIBRE GLASS POLES, NYLON ZIPS and METAL PEGS which makes them un-economical to separate for recycling.
We at Leeds are working closely with THE GREEN TENT COMPANY who are the first company in the world to design a stylish, competitively priced tent range made solely from ONE PRODUCT and incorporating a new peg system which prevents them from being left in the ground all with one focus of being environmentally and festival friendly.
Their ground breaking range starts with a 2 man dome tent and is topped by a deluxe 6 man, 3 bedroom version which is tall enough to stand up in.They have even manufactured their SLEEPING BAGS and CAMPING MATS from the same single product making them more festival friendly.
So if you’re going to be purchasing a new tent for this year’s Leeds festival please visit www.thegreententcompany.co.uk and help us to reduce our carbon footprint, thus SAVING THE PLANET.

There are toilet blocks in the arena. The campsite toilets are non-flammable. All toilets have hand-washing facilities.
There are teams of internal and external environmental health monitors checking each toilet block throughout the festival in order to report any sanitation issues.
Please report any problems to the nearest CAT member or steward.
There are free showers in the Village area which will be open 5pm to 9pm Wednesday and on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday they will be open from 6am to 2pm and 5pm to 9pm.

Campfires
Leeds City Council have again given us the go ahead to allow small campfires fuelled by clean wood in the campsites but not bonfires. Small campfires are ones where the flame itself is below knee height and less than one pace wide.
They will be monitored and will have to be put out if they are exceeding these limits. We have a firewood trader onsite so that you can buy clean wood for your small campfires - located in the Village and in Orange Campsite.
Campfires are not allowed in the arena or in the car parks.
Bonfires
Unauthorised Bonfires are not permitted anywhere at all at the festival.
No fires at all are allowed in the arena. No fires at all are allowed in the car parks. Anyone seen creating a bonfire or fire in the arena or the car parks will be subject to being evicted from the festival site on the spot.
Organised bonfires will be held onsite at Yellow bubble, Red and Orange campsites.
Fire Safety Tips
o Candles are plain dangerous; torches are far less of a fire risk in and around tents.o Watch out for flying embers and sparks, as they could start a fire, even from some distance.
o Don't burn plastic or any other toxic materials.
o Never use petrol or paraffin to start or revive a fire.
o If you cook, always do it outside, ensure that there is constant supervision and keep well away from any flammable materials.
Staff
There are plenty of Customer Protection Officers and Customer Support Officers in the campsites again this year.
• Customer Protection Officers are in white tabards and are supervisors.
• Customer Support Officers are in bottle green tabards
• Oxfam stewards are in yellow or orange tabards
• Campsite Assistance Teams are in turquoise tabards
• Traffic marshals are in royal blue tabards
• Fire marshals are in red tabards
• Zone Managers are in burgundy tabards and are overall managers of their zone.
If you have a complaint to make about Customer Protection or Support Officers, please make a note of their tabard number (so we can identify who you are referring to) and speak to one of the following:
Zone Managers - these are based in each campsite zone, at the arena entrance, and in the arena itself. They are dressed in burgundy coloured tabards with the title "Zone Manager" on them. Their role is to oversee their zone and to direct the actions of staff. They are completely independent from security and we have employed them in order that we have a manager in each area. Please use them.
Welfare staff - these are based in the Welfare Tent in the Village. They are present in this tent 24 hours. They are dressed in tabards with Ministry of Welfare on them. Their role is to look after festival goers and they offer a complaints / suggestions feedback service. Please use them.
Please make good use of these staff and ask them if you need any help or if you have any concerns at all. All of the above will pass on your complaints and comments to Festival Republic straight away.
Campsite Offices
The campsite offices are based in caravans in each zone. They are open 24 hours and they are the bases for the Zone Managers, and the CATs (Campsite Assistance Teams). The areas in front of the campsite offices will be used for the DJ parties each night so please keep these areas free from tents. They are also the place to make complaints if you want to. Especially about security if that is needed.
Zone Managers
We will again have the Zone Manager positions in each campsite zone. The Zone Managers are on duty 24 hours based in and around their campsite office. They are there to run their zone and to help you with any questions or support. Please use them.CATs
The CATs are volunteers based in the festival campsites and main arena. CAT volunteers are there to help you get the most out of your festival 24 hours a day! If you're having trouble putting up your tent, need directions, are wondering about a performance or the days line-up, are concerned about a group or an individual's behaviour, need a UV pen to mark your belongings, would like to complain about a build-up of litter, or let us know about facilities which require attention – please contact a CAT volunteer – they'll do their best to help!
To contact a CAT – head towards your nearest fire tower, campsite office, or catch them as they patrol around!
If you're interested in volunteering to be a CAT please visit: www.HotboxEvents.com
Or you can email: info@hotboxevents.com
Or you can just go straight to the online application here: https://hotboxevents.paamapplication.co.uk/
Emergency Access Lanes on the campsite
If you are camped in an emergency access lane, your tent will have to be moved by our security teams. If you return to your tent to find that this has occurred, please make a note of the campsite that you are in (Orange, Green etc) and go to the nearest Campsite Office or fire tower (situated near the toilet blocks) for assistance. If you are not sure about whether you are camped inappropriately or not, please check with the Campsite Assistance Teams (CATS).
If you find yourself without accommodation due to your tent being removed then please go to the Welfare Tent in the Village Area which is open 24 hours. They will be happy to help you. Thank you for your co-operation. Please note that although we will make all reasonable efforts to take care of your property, no responsibility can be taken for any items that are lost or damaged during tent removal.
LOOK AFTER YOUR WRISTBAND
A wristband must be worn by everyone on site, and if yours is damaged or lost you may not be able to enter the arena and/or may be required to leave the site. So here are a few tips on looking after your wristband….
1. Ensure your wristband is secure. The clasp should be firmly in place and not slipping up or down. The wristband must not be loose so check it cannot slip over your wrist.
2. Do not tamper with your wristband in any way. The wristband often has loose ends which many are tempted to cut or burn off. Do not do this. If the ends are tampered with it increases the likelihood of losing your wristband as the ends may fray and/or can slip out of the clasp more easily. Most wristbands have a warning which says “void if removed” and the promoter has the right to refuse entry if a wristband has been tampered with.
3. Do not tie knots or add anything to your wristband. All bands are checked each time you enter the arena and at various checkpoints around the site. Knots, plasters, tape etc. on your band will have to be removed to check the band properly and this will cause delays to you and others at the entrance. Some people may be sensitive to the metal on some clasps. If this is the case do not put tape on the wristband, but protect your skin with hypoallergenic tape instead.
4. Keep your wristband safe. Even if a wristband appears secure it may still get lost or stolen especially if you get involved in lively crowd activity, “moshing” etc. The best way to keep your wristband safe, and to prevent the loose ends snagging or annoying you, is to wear an elasticated/towelling sweat band over the top or a long sleeved top with elasticated cuffs. This way you will keep it safe but you will still be able to show it at checkpoints easily.
5. What if you have a problem? As soon as you realise you have a problem, lost, damaged band etc. you must get help. If you are outside the arena there will be “wristband exchanges” where someone will try to help/advise you. If you are inside the arena do not leave, go to the arena entrance and, without leaving the arena, ask for the supervisor who will be able to help.
